The t-test value for the given collected data of hours of studying and exam grade is equal to 10.45.

As given in the question,

n = 5

Mean of the data ( time ) μ₁ = ( 1+ 3 + 4 + 3+ 6)/ 5

                                           = 3.4

Mean of the exam grade μ₂  = ( 55 + 75 + 80 + 85 + 99) / 5

                                           = 78.8

Standard deviation of time σ₁ = 1.82

Standard deviation of exam grade σ₂ = 16.04

Standard error of time = σ₁/√n

                                   = 1.82 / √5

                                   =0.81

Standard error of time =σ₂/√n

                                   = 16.04/ √5

                                   =7.17

Difference in mean of time and exam grade  = 78.8 - 3.4

                                                                      = 75.4

Standard error of difference 'S.E'= √ (0.81)² + (7.17)²

                                            = 7.215

t - test for the given data

= | μ₁ -  μ₂| / S.E.

= | 3.4 - 78.8| / 7.215

= 75.4 / 7.215

= 10.45

P value and statistical significance:

Considering the given information, we fail to reject the null hypothesis that the proportion of men who own cats is less than or equal to 23% at the 0.10 significance level.

How did we arrive at this assertion?

The null and alternative hypotheses are as follows:

H o: p ≤ 0.23 (proportion of men who own cats is less than or equal to 23%)

H a: p > 0.23 (proportion of men who own cats is larger than 23%)

The test is right-tailed because the alternative hypothesis states that the proportion is larger than 23%.

Based on a sample of 40 people, with 15% of them owning cats, we can calculate the p-value.

To find the p-value, we need to use the binomial distribution and calculate the probability of observing a result as extreme or more extreme than the one obtained under the null hypothesis.

Let's calculate the p-value:

p = 0.15 (proportion of men in the sample who own cats)

n = 40 (sample size)

p-value = P(X ≥ 0.15 x 40) = P(X ≥ 6)

Using a binomial calculator or software, we can find that P(X ≥ 6) is approximately 0.162.

Since the p-value (0.162) is greater than the significance level of 0.10, we fail to reject the null hypothesis.

Therefore, based on the given information, we fail to reject the null hypothesis that the proportion of men who own cats is less than or equal to 23% at the 0.10 significance level.

Recently, the workers went on strike, and now a local TV station plans to interview 4 workers (chosen at random) at the university to get their opinions on the strike. What is the probability that exactly 2 of the workers interviewed are union members?

Answers

The probability that exactly 2 of the workers interviewed are union members is approximately 0.044.

To solve this problem, we can use the binomial probability formula, which is:

\(P(X = k) = (n choose k) * p^k * (1 - p)^(n - k)\)

where:

n is the sample size (number of workers being interviewed)

k is the number of successes we are interested in (in this case, 2 of the workers being union members)

p is the probability of success (in this case, the probability that a worker is a union member)

(n choose k) is the binomial coefficient, which represents the number of ways to choose k items from a set of n items (this can be calculated using the formula n! / (k! * (n - k)!))

Plugging in the values, we get:

\(P(X = 2) = (4 choose 2) * (0.96)^2 * (1 - 0.96)^(4 - 2)\)

\(= (6) * (0.96)^2 * (0.04)^2\)

= 0.04403136

Therefore, the probability that exactly 2 of the workers interviewed are union members is approximately 0.044.

A square pyramid has a base with a side length of 7.5 feet and lateral faces with heights of 16 feet. Write an expression that can be used to find the surface area, in square feet, of the square pyramid.

Please provide an expression, not just the surface area please :)

Answers

Check the picture below.

so the surface area of the pyramid will be the sum of the areas of the base and the four triangular faces.

\(\stackrel{\textit{\Large Areas}}{\stackrel{\textit{4 triangular faces}}{4\left[ \cfrac{1}{2}(7.5)(16) \right]}~~ + ~~\stackrel{\textit{rectangular base}}{(7.5)(7.5)}}\implies 240~~ + ~~56.25\implies 296.25~ft^2\)

A Call centre has 5 people answering calls. To answer all of the calls, each person needs to work at a rate of 14 calls per hour.
At what rate would 7 people need to work to answer the same number of calls.
Someone help

Answers

I think it will probably be 20 people because if you calculate the ratio 5:14 and then we have 7 we would do 7/5 which gives us 1.4 then we would multiply 14x1.4 and get 19.6 which could be rounded to about 20 people. This might not be the right answer sorry for any possible inconvenience.
