a. true
b. false

Answers

In Hinduism, the belief that God is an ever-renewing fountain from which all things emanate and return to is true.

In Hinduism, there are various interpretations and conceptions of God. One of the fundamental principles is the belief in the divine as the ultimate source and essence of all existence. According to Hindu philosophy, God is often seen as an eternal, infinite and all-pervading entity from which everything in the universe arises and eventually merges back into.

This concept is rooted in the idea of cyclical time and the belief in reincarnation and rebirth. It emphasizes the interconnectedness of all beings and the continuous cycle of creation, preservation, and dissolution. The notion of God as an ever-renewing fountain reflects the Hindu understanding of the divine as the eternal source of life and the ultimate destination towards which all things ultimately return.

An evoked set can indeed be limited by situational factors. Situational factors play a significant role in shaping consumer behavior and decision-making processes, True.

When it comes to forming an evoked set, which represents the brands or products considered by a consumer during a purchase decision, situational factors can impose restrictions.

These factors may include time constraints, budget limitations, product availability, or specific circumstances surrounding the purchase. For instance, if a consumer is short on time or has a restricted budget, they may only include a limited number of brands or products in their evoked set. These situational constraints narrow down the options and limit the choices available to the consumer. In the first event, water droplets were formed because of condensation, which occurs when water vapor in the air comes into contact with a colder surface and changes back to a liquid state.

In the second event, the ice melted completely due to an increase in temperature.

The third event, the water level dropped because the volume of the ice cubes was less than the volume of water they produced upon melting.

Thus, the water level in the glass decreased after the melting of the ice after two days.

the total estimated volume of leaked oil from the deepwater horizon was approximately 210m gallons of oil.truefalse

Answers

True. The total estimated volume of leaked oil from the Deepwater Horizon was approximately 210 million gallons of oil.

The Deepwater Horizon oil spill, also known as the BP oil spill, was a major environmental disaster that occurred in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. It was caused by an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling rig, which resulted in the release of an estimated 4.9 million barrels of oil into the ocean.

The spill had a significant impact on marine life, as well as on the local economy and the livelihoods of people who depend on the Gulf of Mexico for their income. Cleanup efforts were extensive and costly, and the disaster prompted new regulations and safety measures for offshore drilling. Despite these efforts, the effects of the spill are still being felt today, and the full extent of the damage may never be fully known.

Chapter 3: How Cah We
How does Central Provident Funds (CPF) benefit society?

Answers

In recent years, policymakers around the world have been attracted to the concept of integrating a consideration of assets into policy efforts aimed at securing and enhancing social welfare. The theory behind asset-based welfare policy suggests that while income facilitates immediate consumption, social development over the long-term occurs primarily through asset accumulation and investment (Sherraden, 1988, 1991). Assets may not only provide individuals with the ability to exert control over resources that can increase their financial security, they might also orient owners to future aspirations and be linked with positive economic, psychological, and social effects. To explore policy efforts consistent with this theory, Sherraden (1991) proposed the establishment of life-long asset accounts for each individual, preferably for newborns, as a vehicle to implement asset-based welfare policies. He further suggests that asset-based policy should be inclusive, progressive, and built around a single integrative and coherent framework (2003a).The experience of Singapore provides an instructive case study for the potential of this approach. This affluent city-state in Southeast Asia has developed an innovative and comprehensive set of policies that employs an asset-based approach to social welfare (Asher & Nandy, 2006). At the center of these efforts is Singapore's Central Provident Fund (CPF). The CPF has gained international recognition as a particular model for meeting social policy objectives (Hateley & Tan, 2003). As one of the key pillars of Singapore's social safety net (Central Provident Fund Board, 2007b), the CPF seeks to facilitate retirement security while minimizing welfare transfer payments in a manner consistent with a national philosophy of self reliance (Central Provident Fund Board, n.d.-e).

While Singapore became independent in 1965, the CPF was originally established by the British colonial government in 1955 as a compulsory defined-contribution savings scheme. It was designed to provide financial security for workers after retirement or when they were no longer able to work (Asher, 1991). However, over the years, the CPF has been used to accelerate national economic growth (Central Provident Fund Board, n.d.-e) and has since evolved into a comprehensive social security savings plan with various pre-retirement uses such as financing healthcare, post-secondary education, home ownership, and other asset enhancement investments. Furthermore, the CPF is an integral part of the continuum of asset-based policies in Singapore that extend throughout the life course (Loke & Sherraden, 2009). Policies such as the Children Development Accounts (CDAs) that target children from birth to age six, the Edusave Scheme that benefits school-going children, and the Post-Secondary Education Accounts (PSEAs) are fully integrated with the infrastructure of the CPF. Unused balances in the CDAs and the Edusave Accounts are rolled-over to the PSEAs, which in turn transfers its unused balances to the CPF. With a portfolio of continuous managed investment, the CPF has become a life-long provision (Aw & Low, 1996).

There is much to be learned from the Singapore and CPF experience. Especially for other countries considering how to organize social policy efforts to support savings, promote asset-based welfare, and design a lifelong and multi-purpose yet coherent system. This paper will present an overview of CPF, describe how distributions from the fund support a range of policy objectives throughout the life course, and then discuss implications of these findings for national policy efforts in other countries, such as the United States.

which of the following learning and development methods is most appropriate when people just need to learn facts such as work rules or legal matters? group of answer choices videotapes, workbooks, and lectures case studies coaching role-plays

Answers

When people just need to learn facts such as work rules or legal matters, the most appropriate learning and development method would be workbooks and lectures. The correct answer is option b.

These methods are effective for providing information, explanations, and instructions on a particular topic in a structured manner. Workbooks are helpful for reinforcing concepts and allowing learners to practice applying new knowledge, while lectures provide a clear and concise presentation of information.

Video tapes can also be an effective method of delivering information in a visual and engaging way, but they may not be as interactive or customizable as workbooks and lectures.

Case studies and role-plays are more appropriate for developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills or for practicing interpersonal communication and leadership skills.

Coaching, on the other hand, is a one-on-one development method that involves a more personalized approach and can be effective for addressing individual learning needs and providing feedback. However, it may not be the most efficient or practical method for delivering basic factual information to a large group of people.

A distinctive feature of bandura's theory is vicarious reinforcement, which involves observing the behavior of othe people.

a. true
b. false

Answers

a. True. A distinctive feature of bandura's theory is vicarious reinforcement, which involves observing the behavior of other people.

Vicarious reinforcement is indeed a distinctive feature of Bandura's social learning theory. According to Bandura, individuals learn not only through their own direct experiences but also by observing and imitating the behavior of others. Vicarious reinforcement refers to the process by which individuals learn by observing the consequences of others' behavior.

Bandura proposed that individuals can learn new behaviors or modify existing ones by observing others and observing the outcomes or consequences of those behaviors. If they witness others being rewarded or reinforced for certain behaviors, they are more likely to imitate those behaviors. On the other hand, if they observe others being punished or facing negative consequences for certain behaviors, they are less likely to imitate those behaviors.

Vicarious reinforcement plays a significant role in social learning as it allows individuals to learn from the experiences of others without having to go through those experiences themselves. By observing the behavior and its outcomes in others, individuals can make judgments about the likely consequences of their own actions, which influences their decision-making and behavior.

Therefore, the statement that vicarious reinforcement is a distinctive feature of Bandura's theory is true.
