I felt sorry for him because he was often blamed for things that were not his fault.The aunt in the story is an interesting character. I could relate to her because she is the type of person who is set in her ways.
She thinks that the way things have been done in the past is the way they should always be done. I sympathized with the aunt because it must be hard for her to be so set in her ways. It would be difficult for her to adapt to new things. I found the ending of the story to be hilarious.
I was surprised by how clever Nicholas was. He managed to outwit the aunt and get into the lumber room. It was a satisfying conclusion to the story because it showed that even though the aunt was more powerful than Nicholas, he was still able to outsmart her.
