In Farewell Address, George Washington most hopes to be remembered as a president whose long years of service outweighed any faults he may have had. Which passage from the text most strongly supports that hope? Question 7 options: a) “Though, in reviewing the incidents of my administration, I am unconscious of intentional error, I am nevertheless too sensible of my defects not to think it probable that I may have committed many errors.” b) “Who can doubt that, in the course of time and things, the fruits of such a plan would richly repay any temporary advantages which might be lost by a steady adherence to it?” c) “I shall also carry with me the hope that my country will never cease to view them with indulgence; and that, after forty five years of my life dedicated to its service with an upright zeal, the faults of incompetent abilities will be consigned to oblivion, as myself must soon be to the mansions of rest.” d) “...I anticipate with pleasing expectation that retreat in which I promise myself to realize, without alloy, the sweet enjoyment of partaking, in the midst of my fellow-citizens, the benign influence of good laws under a free government, the ever-favorite object of my heart, and the happy reward, as I trust, of our mutual cares, labors, and dangers.”

Answers

Answer:

The passage that most strongly supports that hope is:

c) “I shall also carry with me the hope that my country will never cease to view them with indulgence; and that, after forty five years of my life dedicated to its service with an upright zeal, the faults of incompetent abilities will be consigned to oblivion, as myself must soon be to the mansions of rest.”

Explanation:

First, let's remember what we are looking for. We want a passage in which Washington says he wishes people will forgive his mistakes and faults due to his dedication as a president. When we analyze what is said in letter C, that is precisely what we find. Washington is saying that he hopes people will be able to look at his past faults with tolerance - my country will never cease to view them with indulgence. He hopes his long years of service will outweigh such faults, causing people to forget (or forgive) them - after forty five years of my life dedicated to its service with an upright zeal, the faults of incompetent abilities will be consigned to oblivion. Therefore, the best answer is letter C.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling - review

One of my favourite books is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling. It is a story about Harry Potter, an orphan brought up by his aunt and uncle because his parents were killed when he was a baby. Harry is unloved by his uncle and aunt but everything changes when he is invited to join Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and he finds out he's a wizard. At Hogwarts Harry realises he's special and his adventures begin when he and his new friends Ron and Hermione attempt to unravel the mystery of the Philosopher's Stone.

I can read this book over and over again. From the very beginning until the end J.K. Rowling has me gripped! There is never a dull moment, whether it's battling with trolls, a three-headed dog, or Harry facing Lord Voldermort. I would definitely recommend this book because it keeps you reading without ever wanting to put the book down. By the end of the book you come to love the characters and you want to read more. You won't be disappointed because the second book in the series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is just as great! If you haven't read any of the Harry Potter books you are missing out on the best series ever!

What makes something funny? In other words, how does comedy work? List all the reasons.

Answers

Answer:

Comedy is not a science, it's art. Therefore there are no rules and it can be very subjective. What one person finds funny another might cringe at.

One thing worth noting is that when analysing comedy and what is funny, it is almost like it is only visible out of the corner of your eye. As soon as you try and look directly at it and analyse it too much... all of the funniness disappears...

Why do we find things funny? Why does this reaction force us to convulse and make that noise?

I have no idea.

There is no simple answer to why something is funny... Something is funny because it captures a moment, it contains an element of simple truth, it is something that we have always known for eternity and yet are hearing it now out loud for the first time.

I think that our need to feel intelligent comes into play a lot in finding things funny... maybe humour is actually the overwhelming joy at feeling intelligent. Somebody tries to put on their shoes standing up and falls over in the process. They look foolish, we therefore feel intelligent as we are not the one falling over trying to put on shoes.

We laugh.

What is Comedy?

In fiction, the comedy genre refers to discourses or works that are meant to make people laugh, whether they appear in theater, movies, stand-up comedy, television, radio, books, or any other form of entertainment.

Any work that aims to make people laugh and smile, whether it be in theater, television, cinema, stand-up comedy, or any other kind of entertainment, is considered to be a comedy.

The use of language, which can range from everyday conversation to puns and wordplay, the usage of forbidden issues, and the use of incongruity and juxtaposition are all common features of humor. Comedies occasionally rely on vulgar and physical humor. They are frequently referred to as low humor.

The comedy's central theme is triumphing over unfavorable circumstances to reach a happy resolution. Yet, the comedy's main goal is to amuse the audience. Comedy is divided into three categories, including farce, burlesque, and satire, depending on the situation and the source of the humor.

This personification helps to create a sense of fluidity in time and how it can change.

"The hijab is a boundary, but it's also a pathway."

The hijab is compared to a boundary that separates the wearer from the rest of the world, but it is also compared to a pathway that the wearer can use to navigate through life.

"I feel like a thousand pounds of recycled paper and sawdust, nothing to show but the wear and tear of handling."

This quote uses hyperbole to exaggerate the speaker's feeling of exhaustion and worthlessness.

Prime numbers can be generated by an algorithm known as the Sieve of Eratosthenes. The algorithm for this procedure is presented here. Write a program called primes.js that implements this algorithm. Have the program find and display all the prime numbers up to n = 150.Sieve of Eratosthenes Algorithm To Display All Prime Numbers Between 1 and n Step 1: We need to start with all the numbers representing the range of numbers that are possible candidate primes. So, create an array of consecutive integers from 2 to n: (2,3,4,..n). I wouldn't hand-code this. I would use a loop to populate the array. Step 2: At each step we select the smallest number and remove all it's multiples. So we'll start with an outer loop that goes from 2 to n. initially, let p equal 2, the first prime number. Step 3: In an inner loop we need to iterate over all the numbers that are multiples of p, i.e for 2, that's 2,4,6,8 etc. Each time, setting it's value to false in the original array. Step 4: Find the first number greater than p in the list that is not marked False. If there was no such number, stop. Otherwise, let p now equal this number( which is the next prime), and repeat from step 3.When the algorithm terminates, all the numbers in the list that are not marked False are prime Example: Let us take an example when n = 50. August 15, 2017Dear Editor, Lately, our neighborhood has become extremely noisy. This has occurred because a mall is being constructed close to the residential quarters, and the construction activities have filled our streets with noise and smoke. For several hours each day, huge trucks line up the streets to deliver construction material. This has caused the streets to be overcrowded, resulting in traffic jams. The constant traffic jams and construction have not only caused noise pollution but have also increased air pollution. This situation is causing damage to the health of the people. It particularly affects the sleep quality and overall health of adults as well as kids. The increase in noise and air pollution is a big threat to the health of the people. I would like to urge the city authorities to rethink their decision to build a mall in such a locality. Once the mall is ready, the traffic situation will only get worse. If city authorities do not cancel their plans, they should at least install noise-blocking boards around all houses to reduce the problem of noise pollution.Sincerely,Valencia WoodsWhat is the purpose of Valencia's letter to the editor?A.) to convince people to stop building malls and invest in other venturesB.) to describe the problem faced by the neighborhood and suggest solutions to manage the problemC.) to explain the meaning of noise pollution and describe the dangerous effects of noise pollutionD.) to inform people about the ill-effects of air pollution and explain its long-term effects Does the mapping represent a function?
