This is my Commemorative speech for my English class.

The name Ella, meaning “a beautiful fairy woman” or “light”, was an exact description of my best friend, Ella Schriner. She has helped me through all of my ups and downs, and all of my good and bad days. We both suffer from mental disorders, and we both have experienced trauma in our lifetime, but that does not stop us from being there for eachother. A good friend can have many definitions but mine, I believe, is precise. A good friend is always there for you even when other people are not, and they comfort you through all of the rough days. They laugh, they cry, they hurt with you...and that is what really matters. Personally, I have really bad anxiety and minor depression because of all of the trauma I have experienced in my life. My father had left my mother and I when I was just born, and I would never forgive him; But Ella has shown me that I do not need a bad influence in my life; and that if he will forget about me, then I shall forget about him. Ella showed me how to stop stressing over something that will never come back. She has taught me how to be a better person, and therefore she is not considered my friend….she is my family. Ella, oh Ella, I wish I could explain to you how much you mean to me but I just cannot find the right words because there are so many to describe you with; but all I would like to say to you is….”Thank You”.

Answers

Answer 1

I love how you describe how close Ella is to your heart, and how you expressed your feelings towards Ella. I also love how you effortlessly transitioned to the conclusion. I think it looks amazing so far! There are a few grammar errors that you could easily fix, but other than that, I think it's great! Personally, I think you could change the part where you said "They laugh, they cry, they hurt with you" because in my opinion, it isn't gramatically correct. I also wanted to point out that the quotes around the "Thank you" you put in the end is not placed properly, but you could easily fix that. I hope this helps! <3

Explanation:

People who’ll stop at nothing to achieve wealth, success, or fame are often said to have “sold their soul.” In other words, they have sacrificed something important—moral beliefs, privacy, family—in order to get what they want. Consider this kind of trade-off. Do you think it might ever be worth the consequences? Explain in detail.

Answers

This question requires a personal opinion, so you can take into consideration what is most important to you and decide whether the trade-off is worth it.

Are fame, wealth, and success worth it?

This question requires you to write your personal opinion on whether sacrificing one's beliefs, privacy, or family is worth it in order to obtain fame, wealth, and success.

To write such an answer, consider what is most important to you first. You can ask yourself if you would rather lose touch with your family and friends to become wealthy, or if you would rather have less money but spend time with them anyway.

Suppose you do not think such a trade-off is worth it and you would rather remain poor than lose your loved ones. An example of an answer would be:

"I do not think this trade-off is worth the consequences. Becoming famous and wealthy will certainly bring new people into my life, but there is no way to know whether they are sincere and like me for who I am. On the other hand, I know my family and current friends share the same values as me and love me the way I am. Therefore, I think it is better to remain poor or to have an average amount of money to be rich and lose my loved ones."

With the information above in mind, we can conclude that the example provided is helpful and correct.

using all of the same evidence stevenson lists, prepare notes as if you were stevenson. in what order would you present the evidence to make the strongest case? would you call (or ignore) any other witnesses? what would you emphasize during your opening and closing remarks?

Answers

To make the strongest case, I would present the evidence in the narrative situation.

In order to make the strongest case, it is important to carefully consider the order in which the evidence is presented. As Stevenson, I would begin by presenting the strongest and most compelling evidence first. This could be evidence that directly supports the main argument and has a significant impact on the case.

By starting with strong evidence, it immediately captures the attention of the audience and establishes a solid foundation for the rest of the presentation.

Next, I would continue presenting the supporting evidence in a logical and coherent manner. This would involve organizing the evidence in a way that builds upon the initial strong evidence and strengthens the overall argument. I would emphasize any key pieces of evidence that are particularly persuasive or have a strong emotional impact on the audience.

Regarding the witnesses, I would carefully consider their relevance and credibility. If there are additional witnesses whose testimony can provide valuable insights or corroborate the existing evidence, I would call them to further strengthen the case. However, if their testimony is not essential or could potentially weaken the argument, I may choose to ignore calling them as witnesses.

During the opening remarks, I would emphasize the main argument and highlight the importance and relevance of the evidence that will be presented. It is crucial to engage the audience from the beginning and clearly convey the purpose and significance of the case.

In the closing remarks, I would summarize the key points and evidence presented throughout the case, emphasizing the strongest evidence once again. I would strive to leave a lasting impression on the audience, reinforcing the strength of the argument and leaving no doubt about the validity and credibility of the case.

Who was the audience for President Obama's speech ?

Answers

Answer:

President Obama’s jobs speech on Thursday evening will take place in front of a joint session of Congress, underlining the coming legislative clash over how best to jump-start the nation’s flagging economy.

But the president will have many different audiences when he takes the podium in the House chamber at 7 p.m. (earlier than usual to avoid the start of the N.F.L. season).

The immediate success of the speech may be judged by how lawmakers in the chamber respond, though in Washington’s hyperpartisan atmosphere the reaction is almost certainly going to be negative from the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.

The challenge for the president — any president — in such speeches is to find a way to communicate a series of different messages to the many groups who will be watching.

Everyone will hear the same words. But within the speech, particular words will be signals to different constituencies.

And the tone of the speech will matter, too. Will the Obama who gives the speech tonight be the professorial one, methodically explaining the situation to the public? Or will he be the more aggressive, campaign-mode Obama whose rhythm and pace is quicker and more urgent? Or maybe a mix of the two?

Here’s a breakdown of the different groups that Mr. Obama will be talking to on Thursday night:

House Republicans. First and foremost, Mr. Obama will be putting House Republicans on notice that he intends to press them to pass his jobs package — and to use their refusal as a campaign issue if they do not take it up. Speaker John A. Boehner and his top lieutenants have for months demanded that Mr. Obama put his jobs plan on the table. Now, they will have to decide how to deal with it.

Reaction to the details of the president’s proposals that have already leaked out suggests that Mr. Boehner’s party intends to dismiss most of them. But again, the tone could matter. If Mr. Obama is combative, the legislative battle could be short and decisive. If the president extends a series of olive branches, there could be more of an effort to negotiate.

Independents. The White House has made clear that one of its chief goals with the speech is crafting an argument that independent voters will find reassuring.

The president’s victory in the 2008 election leaned heavily on convincing those middle-of-the-road voters that he was the best candidate to handle the economy. Since taking office, his popularity among that group has plunged.

To win them back before the 2012 election, Mr. Obama is hoping to make the case that he is the reasonable one in Washington, the one person willing to compromise and negotiate in good faith to get something done.

“The professional left.” For weeks now, there has been a steady drumbeat of expectations from liberal pundits and columnists who were once derided by Robert Gibbs, the president’s former press secretary, as “the professional left.”

It seems unlikely from the information we have so far that the president’s proposals will completely satisfy the most liberal of his supporters. But the size of the jobs plan — which could approach $400 billion — may help to quiet some of the president’s critics.

And his tone will matter with this audience, too — though in the opposite way. The more he chooses conciliatory language in talking to House Republicans, the less the professional left will be happy. If he chooses fiery rhetoric that will whip up his base, he could anger those Republicans in the House.

Look for a bit of both in the speech to satisfy both audiences.

The markets. Senior White House advisers have long said that they do not measure the president’s success by the daily ups and downs of the stock market.

Those aren’t the only things you can look for; however, that is a good place to start.

You know passage c and d are not the correct answer because they start with the same word each time.

Passage a is a little trickier because as you can tell, they start with different words. However, they are the same type of words—transition words.

Compare and contrast imperialism and isolationism

Answers

Answer: Imperialism and isolationism are two contrasting foreign policy approaches that have been adopted by various countries throughout history. Imperialism refers to a policy of extending a country's power and influence through colonization, use of military force, and economic dominance, while isolationism is a policy of remaining aloof from the political and economic affairs of other countries, and focusing on one's own domestic issues.

One of the main differences between imperialism and isolationism is their approach towards foreign affairs. Imperialism involves a more assertive and interventionist approach, where a country seeks to expand its power and influence in other regions, often by force or through economic coercion. On the other hand, isolationism involves a more passive and defensive approach, where a country seeks to maintain its distance from other nations and avoid involvement in their affairs.

Another key difference between imperialism and isolationism is their impact on global politics. Imperialism can lead to the domination and exploitation of weaker nations, which can result in resentment and conflict. Isolationism, on the other hand, can lead to a lack of global cooperation and the emergence of power vacuums that can be filled by aggressive states or non-state actors.

Moreover, imperialism often leads to the establishment of colonies and the imposition of cultural, economic, and political values of the imperial power on the colonized territories. In contrast, isolationism emphasizes the preservation of a country's unique culture and values, and avoiding the influence of other cultures.

In summary, imperialism and isolationism are two opposite approaches to foreign policy. While imperialism aims to expand a country's power and influence by dominating other nations, isolationism aims to maintain a country's independence by avoiding involvement in foreign affairs. Both approaches have their advantages and disadvantages, and their effectiveness depends on a country's goals, circumstances, and historical context.

Large stars can explode as they finish burning their nuclear fuel, causing a supernova. The explosion blows away the outer layers of the star. According to Newtons third law, the forces that push the outer layers away have reaction forces that are inwardly directed on the core of the star. These forces compress the core and can cause the core to undergo a gravitational collapse. The gravitational forces keep pulling all the matter together tighter and tighter, crushing atoms out of existence. Under these extreme conditions, a proton and an electron can be squeezed together to form a neutron. If the collapse is halted when the neutrons all come into contact with each other, the result is an object called a neutron star, an entire star consisting of solid nuclear matter. Many neutron stars rotate about their axis with a period of 1s and, as they do so, send out a pulse of electromagnetic waves once a second. These stars were discovered in the 1960s and are called pulsars. A) Consider a neutron star with a mass equal to the sun, a radius of 19 km , and a rotation period of 1.0 s.
