You want to know if students can complete exams more quickly while listening to "happy" music or while listening to "depressing" music. In the experiment, you are going to have students listen to either "happy" or "sad" music and you are going to time how long it takes each student to complete an exam. Describe how you could perform a manipulation check in this experiment
A manipulation check refers to the procedure in an experimental research design that assesses whether the manipulation of the independent variable in a study was successful.
It entails verifying that the study's independent variable is actually operating, as intended and to eliminate any confounding variables.
A manipulation check in this experiment can be performed by doing the following:
1. Start by asking participants what type of music they were exposed to.
2. Inquire about how they were feeling throughout the procedure, to know if the music changed their mood.
3. Ask about the tempo of the music to ensure that the "happy" music is faster than the "depressing" music.
4. Have participants rank how the type of music influenced their mood from a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 indicating no effect and 10 indicating a significant impact.
5. Compare the scores of both groups to see if there was a significant variation between the two types of music on their mood.

Question 3 : As a writer for a newspaper, you are often faced
with STRICT word counts. How can the use of adjectives help reduce
the number of words that you use?
Adjectives can help reduce word count in newspaper writing by providing concise and descriptive details, improving efficiency and clarity.
When faced with strict word counts as a newspaper writer, the use of adjectives can be helpful in reducing the number of words used while still conveying information effectively. Adjectives are descriptive words that provide additional details and enhance the reader's understanding of a noun or pronoun. By carefully selecting precise and impactful adjectives, writers can condense their sentences and convey meaning more efficiently.
Instead of using lengthy phrases or multiple clauses to describe something, a well-chosen adjective can capture the essence succinctly. For example, replacing "a car that is fast" with "a speedy car" reduces word count without sacrificing clarity.
However, it's important to exercise caution and avoid overusing adjectives, as excessive modifiers can clutter writing and dilute its impact. Striking a balance between conciseness and descriptive power is key when utilizing adjectives to meet strict word limits, allowing writers to convey information effectively while respecting the constraints of their assigned word count.

OA and OB have sort of the same meanings in it because a baseball coach is also a baseball player and someone who is happy can extend that happiness to being more happy, whereas, if the woman is greedy its not the same as a women who gives. Greedy is defined as having an excessive desire and someone who gives is defined as giving part of something they love to the needy. 1. Using dialect is one way that Amy Tan characterizes the mother. What does using dialéct reveal
about Jing Mei's mother? *
(1 Point)
Jing Mei's mother was a poor student in school
Jing Mei's mother had to learn English as a second language later in life
Jing Mei's mother is stubborn about only speaking Chineses
Jing Mel's mother didn't try to learn English
Using dialect reveals the following about Jing Mei's mother:
B. Jing Mei's mother had to learn English as a second language later in life.
This question is about the short story "Two Kinds" by American author Amy Tan (born 1952). The main character is the young girl Jing Mei, whose mother is a Chinese immigrant.
The author purposefully uses dialect to portray the mother's speech. In literature, dialect is the representation of the way someone talks. It can be done by spelling the words differently to indicate pronunciation, for example. Let's see a quote from "Two Kinds" in which Jing Mei's mother is talking:
"Play note right, but doesn't sound good!" my mother complained "No singing sound."
Jing Mei's mother is capable of expressing herself and conveying the message she wishes to. However, she fails to use subjects and often mistakes one verb form for another. Tan makes a point of showing that to indicate that the character had to learn English as a second language later in life.
In conclusion, the mother uses the structure she is used to, the one she has spoken all her life. Her limitations are a sign that now, even though she can learn, it is harder for her to adapt completely to the structure of a new language.

And despite the fact that there have been discussions both in favor of and in opposition to the practice of requiring students to wear school uniforms, the majority of pre-tertiary educational institutions continue to enforce this student dress code policy.
Some schools, in an effort to reap the benefits of the no-uniform policies that have been adopted by other educational establishments, have instituted a "casual Friday" policy, which applies to both students and faculty members.
Sadly, not many schools follow this policy of allowing children to come to class in casual attire on Fridays; however, teachers are typically allowed the opportunity to do so.

Knox's point of view.
Part 2 of the passage after the attached clip : After five years, my father was able to buy a small plot of land. He and I built a simple house to live in, and in this way I learned carpentry skills. We worked hard to make our farm profitable and in time were able to hire convicts who had recently been freed to work the land with us. My father bought more land with his profits and became a respectable member of the community. I took on more and more carpentry work until I could earn a living at my trade.
After five more years, I was now twenty-three years of age and earning a decent living, so I asked the fair and clever daughter of our nearest neighbor to be my wife. Sally accepted, and we built our own house and carpentry shop with both our families' help. We had seven children and have led a very comfortable life. Although I endured a harsh childhood with much work and little education, I am glad that fate led us to Australia, where we have prospered. My children have had the opportunity to attend school and seem destined to rise in society. Perhaps someday, one of my descendants will bring great honor to our family and our new homeland.

A Big Year
By Bob Kowalski
Would you go to the ends of the earth to see a bird? What if it were a really special bird: one with beautiful feathers, an entrancing call, or a silly dance? What if seeing that one special bird would allow you to win a contest?
If that contest doesn't get you on television or win you any cash prizes, would you still do it? For those who participate in the "Big Year," the honor of beating the previous record is the only reward they get or even want.
A "Big Year" is a year in which a person attempts to see as many different species of birds as possible within a particular region. For most in North America who participate in a "Big Year," this region is the lower 48 American states, plus Alaska, Canada, and a couple of French islands off the Canadian coast.
You may be thinking that looking at birds is silly, but just think about the numbers of the recent record holders and the commitment it takes to get these numbers. One recent "Big Year" winner managed to see 744 birds in one year, missing the record by just one bird. Big Year birders travel by train, plane, boat, car, bicycle, and of course, by foot. They can cover over 150 thousand miles to get numbers of sightings this high. They can also spend a small fortune.
Just to clarify, the birds these contestants are counting are the number that they see in a particular year. You see, the contest is based on an honor system. No pictures or other evidence is required as proof of a sighting. Most birders take great pride in their reputation and their abilities to see or hear and then identify a bird. Usually, important sightings of the rare birds needed to get counts in the 700s are visited by hundreds of birders. It is pretty hard to cheat your way to a record-breaking year, but in general, few are interested in cheating.
This honesty comes from the fact that most people who want to break such a record know the greatest rewards are not necessarily in winning. Such rewards are in being able to commit a year of your life to doing something you love. Rewards are found in seeing amazing, inspiring creatures like the California Condor or the Magnificent Frigate bird. Rewards also come in spending time with people who, like you, want to spend their time looking to the skies and trees for glimpses of emerald, crimson, or cerulean blue feathered jewels.
You don't have to be able to travel a continent to have a big birding experience though. Have a big month. Or a big weekend. Set a personal record, learn to identify the species that live in your part of the world, or try to learn the calls of just two species of birds. You will soon find looking at birds isn't such a strange way to spend your time.
Extra! Extra! Backyard Birding
Many schools, families, and young birders across the country participate in the "Great Backyard Bird Count." While not as long as a "Big Year," the "Great Backyard Bird Count" happens every year. It depends on birders and families across the country to watch feeders and other areas in their yards and count the number of birds they see. Unlike the "Big Year," the goal is not to see who can count the most birds. Instead, participants in this event work together to help bird experts get a good idea of how birds are doing. Participants are given checklists and enter their sightings on a website. Called a "citizen-science" project, this event is open to anyone, requires no travel, and happens every year over one weekend in February.
